Award-winning young entrepreneur Mikaela Jade is CEO and Founder of Indigital, an innovative technology company. Indigital develops apps using augmented reality to translate the history and culture of remote Indigenous communities. As part of Australia Fest, Mikaela will deliver presentations on how new technologies such as drones, 4D mapping software and image recognition technology can bring alive ancient stories and make them accessible to the modern world. She will also collaborate with Quicksand to create content that will travel as part of the broader Australia Fest program.
Scientia Professor Veena Sahajwalla is an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow and Founding Director of the University of New South Wales’ Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology. Professor Sahajwalla’s work is revolutionising recycling science to enable global industries to safely utilise toxic and complex wastes as low-cost alternatives to virgin raw materials and fossil fuels. In 2017, she became the first woman to be awarded the prestigious Jubilee Professorship by the Indian Academy of Sciences. Professor Sahajwalla is also a recipient of the Government of India’s Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award. Her program in India is supported by the University of New South Wales.
