The Australian World Orchestra returned to India for its second tour with three extraordinary concerts in Chennai, Kochi and Mumbai.
Fifty-two of Australia's finest classical musicians from preeminent national and international concert halls - including the Vienna and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestras, and the Antwerp and London Symphony Orchestras – took to the stage and left audiences asking for more.
Led by Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Alexander Briger AO, the program included operatic and symphonic works by Mozart, Bizet and Beethoven, and special solo performances from violinist Daniel Dodds and guest soloist mezzo-soprano Caroline Meng.
Music education is a core element of the Australian World Orchestra’s work, and its Indian tour also featured masterclasses for young classical musicians and outreach workshops for children who have had little or no exposure to western classical music.
"I invite you to experience the diversity and dynamism of Australian culture. Come, see and engage with Australia, in your city and through our online platforms, and see what we have to offer. " - Australia's High Commissioner to India, HE Ms Harinder Sidhu
